Luwombwa Lodge – More to Explore!

Ross's Turaco

Ross’s Turaco

At the far end of Kasanka National park with it’s Congolese neighbour not far away, lies an unassuming and welcoming home to explorers and seasoned travellers. Situated on the Luwombwa River, Luwombwa Lodge is home to a wide variety of rare and special birds who enjoy this peaceful place.

An afternoon canoeing up the river with a pair of binoculars can result in some great sightings and with the air continuously filled with various birdcalls throughout the day, whether sitting in the shade of a tree on the river bank or enjoying coffee on your balcony overlooking the river in the morning, you are in for a treat!

We recently had some very happy guests visit Luwombwa Lodge where they were rewarded with spectacular birding and were able to make the most of some amazing photographic opportunities as captured by Dave Richardson.

“It was great to spend a few days at Kasanka last month. My second visit and I really did enjoy it. Two highlights: Firstly going up the river with Brighton was a super experience. His knowledge is good and he will make an excellent guide. Secondly and of course one of the highlights of the whole trip was getting to see the Ross’s Turaco!!”

“We had a great stay, thanks. We saw Ross’  and Schallows Turacos and a Nerina Trogon. Good stuff! A highlight was the canoe meander with Brighton on the Luwombwa.”
